Backlink checker

Paid for a link? Traded one? Check whether it is really there. Paste the page that should be linked and up to twenty pages that are supposed to link to it. We fetch each one live and report what we find.

What this tool checks

For every source page we fetch the live HTML and look for links to your URL. We report whether an exact link exists, the anchor text, the rel attribute (nofollow, sponsored, ugc remove the link value), the HTTP status, whether the page carries a noindex directive in the meta tag or the X-Robots-Tag header, and whether its canonical tag points to itself. A link on a page that is not indexable is a link Google will not count.

Why a live check beats a backlink index

Backlink databases show what a crawler saw weeks ago. When you buy a placement, trade a link or ask a partner for one, the questions are different: is it there right now, is it dofollow, is the page indexable, and did they change it after invoicing? A live fetch answers that in seconds. We run exactly this check on every placement we sell in our publisher network before we confirm it.

What it does not do

It does not discover unknown backlinks. Listing all links to a domain needs a paid index (Majestic, Ahrefs, Moz); the referring-domain count in our domain authority checker is the closest open figure. It also does not simulate Googlebot: pages that render links only with JavaScript will show "not found" here even if Google sees them.

FAQ

The link is on the page but the tool says "not found". Why?

Three common causes: the link is inserted by JavaScript after page load (we read the raw HTML), the link points to a different variant of your URL (http vs. https, with or without trailing slash are matched, but a different path or query is not), or the page blocks automated requests and served us a different version.

What does "links to the domain, not this URL" mean?

The source page links to your domain, but not to the exact page you entered. Often that is the homepage. Whether that fulfils an agreement depends on what was agreed.

Does nofollow mean the link is worthless?

For passing ranking signals, largely yes: Google treats nofollow, sponsored and ugc as hints not to pass value. Such links can still send visitors. If you paid for a "dofollow" placement and see nofollow here, ask the publisher.

Why does indexability matter?

A link on a page that carries noindex, returns an error status or canonicalises to another URL is not counted for the linked page. Sellers occasionally add noindex after the invoice is paid. This tool makes that visible.

Do you keep the URLs I enter?

No. Results are returned to your browser and not stored. Only a hashed request counter per connection exists for rate limiting.
