Domain authority checker

Enter up to ten domains and get an authority score from 0 to 10, the global rank, the number of referring domains and how old the domain is. Free, no signup, sources named.

URLs are fine, we strip the rest. Results for a domain are cached for 24 hours.

What the authority score is - and is not

The score is Open PageRank, a 0-10 metric computed from the Common Crawl web graph. It measures how strongly the web links to a domain, weighted by the strength of the linking sites, the same idea as the original PageRank. It is openly documented and anyone can reproduce it.

It is not Ahrefs DR, Moz DA or Majestic TF. Those are proprietary and differ from each other by design. Any tool that shows "DR" without being Ahrefs is estimating. We would rather show an open number and tell you what it is.

Why no one should buy links by a single score

At the SEO.Domains summit in Sofia in September 2026, five speakers independently made the same point: a headline authority score is the easiest metric to fake. One of them presented an analysis of about 20,000 Polish marketplace domains in which more than 40 percent showed manipulated metrics. Look at the referring domains, the age, the history of the site, whether it is in the current Common Crawl, and above all whether the linking pages are topically related and indexed.

That is why this tool shows the score next to the referring-domain count, the first Wayback capture and the Common Crawl status. A young domain with a high score and few referring domains is a red flag, not a bargain.

How to read the columns

Referring domains is the number of distinct linking sites in the Open PageRank data. Global rank is the position among all domains in that data set; smaller is better. First seen is the earliest snapshot in the Wayback Machine, a floor for the age of the domain, not the registration date. Common Crawl "present" means at least one page of the domain is in the latest public crawl, which is the corpus most large language models are trained on.

FAQ

Is this the same as Ahrefs Domain Rating?

No. DR is a proprietary Ahrefs metric. This tool shows Open PageRank, an open metric on a 0-10 scale built from the Common Crawl web graph. The two correlate but are not interchangeable.

How often is the data updated?

Open PageRank is refreshed roughly monthly. We cache each domain for 24 hours to stay within the data provider's quota; the Wayback and HTTPS checks are live at the time of caching.

Why does a domain show "not in index"?

Open PageRank only lists domains with enough inbound links to appear in the web graph. New sites and very small sites are often missing. The live signals are still shown.

Can I check more than ten domains?

Ten per request, and the tool is rate-limited per connection. If you need a full portfolio audit, that is a service we bill by the hour.

Do you store what I check?

Results are cached per domain so repeat lookups do not hit the data sources again: authority score and HTTPS status for 24 hours, Common Crawl for three days, the Wayback date for 30 days. We do not store your IP address in clear text, only a hashed counter for rate limiting.

Need the full picture?

A score is a starting point. We audit link profiles by hand: anchors, topical fit, indexation, history. Billed by the hour, never by the promise.
